By Harry Padoan

TechRadar reviewer Harry Padoan singled out Sony's most premium wireless headphones for their expansive sound, stylish design, and capable active noise cancellation, but found their original price difficult to recommend regularly. An early Amazon Prime Day Big Deal Days offer lowers the Sony 1000X The Collexion to $598 (was $649.99) at Amazon US and £474 (was £549) at Amazon UK—record lows in both countries.

Padoan views The Collexion as Sony's response to Apple's AirPods Max 2: spacious, immersive headphones that give individual elements of a track room to breathe while combining distinctive styling with extensive features. He considers them especially relevant to Android listeners who cannot access Apple's iOS-specific functions. A highly adjustable EQ, LDAC, DSEE Ultimate for higher-quality Bluetooth listening, and touch controls he describes as class-leading provide features Apple's headphones omit.

What Stood Out in the Review
Reviewing The Collexion earlier in 2026, Padoan found more to appreciate than soundstage alone. He described a well-balanced frequency range, with dynamic, impactful bass, rich and intricate mids, and expressive treble. With LDAC enabled for higher-resolution streaming, or through a wired connection, the headphones also revealed fine details that made listening engaging and insightful.
Despite their relatively relaxed fit, active noise cancellation impressed him on public transport and in the office, keeping outside sounds from distracting him from music. A transparency mode allows greater awareness of the surroundings; it can be activated by covering the right earcup with a hand or pressing a button.
He also preferred their sleeker appearance to the XM6, highlighting the metal details, faux-leather exterior, and plush earcups. They ranked among the most comfortable headphones he had used, remaining comfortable through hours of uninterrupted listening.
The reduced price is still high, but Padoan considers the overall quality worth the investment. Less expensive Sony alternatives are also discounted in the US and UK.
